We are ideally looking to employ a couple to come and live and work on our small organic farm in North Northumberland. We are right at the beginning of two eco-builds, one out of timber and the other straw and are also developing our kitchen garden and curing house (bacon, salami, air dried ham etc). We are hoping to find two capable people, preferably with basic joinery skills, who would relish the opportunity to learn and put into practise the whole range of alternative building skills. In addition we would require you to look after livestock (training provided), muck out, carry out building maintenance, do some field work and progress the kitchen garden. In short we are looking for capable, open minded people with a can do attitude to come and muck in. Finally, some domestic cleaning of very chaotic farmhouse (approx. 10hrs/wk) and occasional childcare also required. In return we are offering accomodation in a mobile home, local use of the farm pick up and #250 / 40 hr week each. If you are interested please contact us either through this discussion or by e-mail aelsworth@heip.co.uk or by phone 07775501068. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Good luck with all this. We're just north of Berwick & are all too familiar with outdoor pigs & timber builds - house, barns &c - so get in touch if you could do with any help on a less formal basis. I assume you've already posted on the WWOOF and Permaculture mag sites, they're probably your best bet.

btw your number looks oddly familiar, were you recently selling farm hardware?

    Hi Richard,
Thanks for your suggestions. We don't know about the permaculture site but we are getting to grips with WWOOF. We may well call on you over the next several months - thanks for the offer. We did sell an old MF590 quite recently - perhaps you saw us there. Do you keep pigs? If so where and what kind?
