Does anyone have recent experience of a domestic EWI installation, to an existing building, in the UK?

Any guidance on roughly what kind of cost to expect, and/or how to estimate it?

Is it that much related to the wall area covered or is there a per-job setup cost that means that the area of wall doesn't have such a big impact on the overall cost?

And finally does the thickness of the insulation have a big effect on cost?

About 2 1/2 years ago I got a quotation for EPS rendered EWI for the existing masonry walls for our project. They quoted for 100mm thickness at £75 per square meter. This was a simple job with no eaves modifications as we were planning to do it within the whole of our build. I've seen recent prices for other people ranging between £75-£100 per square meter. I suspect thickness will have a marginal overall effect on price.

For other systems, the Pavatex woodfibre system at 140mm was price up for me last year at about £71 per square meter, not including installation. This was about year ago.

This spring I ended up buying from Ty Mawr using 140mm thick woodfibre boards which came in at about £48 per square for the whole system. Again not installed. I will have to add perimeter boards and plinth boards to this price.

Had one last year. 100mm graphite EPS + 600mm XPS plinth. Including scaffolding and alterations to plumbing, rainwater goods, gas flue, PV DC cable and including Alumasc 'EWI gutter': Approx £125/m2

SimonD - £48/m2 for whole system icl boards, fixings, mesh, render base-coat and top-coat? Even for materials only that sound excellent. I'll try them for mine next year. I had been planning 100 EPS to one elev and 150 to the other, but at those prices I'd go for WF - which I much prefer to use.

Thanks very much for responses. Sounds like £100/m2 would be a very rough starting point.

How big were the jobs you describe - how many m2 total?

Sorry, I had a vacant moment and plugged my 1st floor wall area into the calculator instead of the masonry. It actually works out at £56 for the whole system. Thanks for confirming!

Thanks, SimonD. Still worth considering at £56, for me. Is that incl or excl VAT? (Possible clincher?!).
