I'm having Lindab guttering on my new build, is there a formula for correctly sizing the Guttering?
  1.
Building Regs. Part H section 3 1.3 has tables showing guttering and downpipe sizes for different roof areas.

The roof area of my bungalow was quite large and I found that over the years on several occasions the gutters would get overwhelmed.
Last year as part of a maintenance plan I took off all the standard half round stuff and put in deep-flow. Deep flow didn't exist when I built, but IMO go for that, if it's plastic you're using.

If you divide the gutter volume by the roof area times the hourly rainfall (use WUnderground to get that data), that will give you the time it takes to fill the gutter.
Then if you work out the flow rates down the downpipe (use Engineeringtoolbox), double the size for safety, you should be able to work it all out.

You can, if you use Firefox with DownThemAll, get all the weather files for your area.

Find a local supplier and ask for the rep's name. They will size it for you, create a BOM etc. That was what I did. Fantastic product BTW.

Key thing with gutter is not to set it too high. If you lay a batten down the roof, the outer edge of the gutter should touch the underside of the batten (i.e. follow the roof line).

I have a lot of leaves round me so opted for the open gully they do - works brilliantly.

I used Ogee style, as if I recall correctly it gave double the capacity of a half round and looked better for about the same cost.
