Someone has just rung me to ask if I know a local (Sheffield) supplier of big fat DC cables and big fuses for an off-grid set-up. Not big - just to run his garage. It's only one panel, but I did not have the wit to ask what wattage!

I don't, though I suggested that Navitron might be able to help.

Anyone know of useful suppliers? Of course the supplier doesn't have to be Sheffield-based, as long as it's OK with mail order.

    Thanks for any help.

Will need to know power, distance and voltage to size the cable. Might not need to be very fat if just for lighting and short distance. Is it going underground?

    Will ask. He mentioned 50mm2.

If it is just one panel then it is highly unlikely to be above 300W at 72V, or 4 A, short circuit may go as high as 8A, but doubt it. Even if he could find a 300W panel that was at 24V that would only be 12.5A.
