We would like random sized Welsh slates for the extension to our mid 19th century stone cottage that we are renovating. Roof is 48 sq metres. We have some slates but not enough. Preferably free if anyone is reroofing with new slates but obviously will pay if not. Any quantity considered. Needs to be North Wales colour slates. Don't know exact quarry.

I am not sure what colour comes from North but we have the blue and purple slates locally. The listed houses can only use Welsh and boy do they cost! I would imagine that you will struggle to find free ones as the reclaimed slates still fetch good money. Good luck though.

One thing just came to me. If you are stuck then apparently Canadian slate actually comes from the same seam. I am not sure this is fact but it could be worth a look as Canadian is cheaper than Welsh. Not as green though I guess. Gusty.

I have a quantity of reclaimed welsh slates, random sizes and thickness, came from an old farmhouse near Oswestry. They are in Shropshire, but they won't be free I'm afraid. If you want more details, whisper me your email.

joe90- GREEN not green! I have lived in Wales all of my life so I know my slate. Green as in that you would need to transport the stuff from Canada.......jeeeeeeeez.
