    Hello again!

Ive searched the scottish regs but can't fine the right bit. We have theventilation pipe to go from bathroom to out the roof. however this is very close to a velux. I know there are regs saying how close you can go, but I can't find them

    Any help appreciated

    :)

I think the Scottish regs only specify this by reference:

    http://www.gov.scot/resource/buildingstandards/2013Domestic/chunks/ch04s08.html

“3.7.8 Ventilation of a drainage system

A Wastewater drainage system serving a building should be ventilated to limit the pressure fluctuations within the system and minimise the possibility of foul air entering the building. A system should be installed in accordance with the guidance in Sections 4, 5, 6 and National Annex ND of BS EN 12056-2: 2000.â€Â

So you'd have to look at the BS (which may or may not stand for British Standard). Rather unfortunate, really.

I think you have to draw a bubble 2m in diameter but I could be wrong. My vent pipe has to halfway round the house to meet the regs (architect did his bit). Ask the BCO, he will know.

Typically do not install within 3 m horizontally and 900 mm vertically of an opening, e.g. roof windows and roof space ventilation.

I think that's the case for Scotland as well

Next question is do you have to go outside at all - depending on the immediate surroundings, an air admittance valve inside may well be acceptable

    Regards

    Barney

Many thanks - My architect agreed that the 3m horizontal and 1m vertical was what I need to keep in mind.

    Thanks!
