I am wondering about the safety of polyethylene. Looking to get new plumbing installed in my home and my plumber recommends using Wirsbo Pex tubing over traditional copper pipes because of the difference in cost. Existing pipes are iron. Some may know that Pex tubing is made from cross-linked polyethylene and meets code for potable water plumbing applications. I wonder if the material may leach into the water though.

Any information/expierience with this product would be helpful.

There's nothing to leach into the water. It is just polyethylene. I would imagine that it wouldn't be code if it wasn't safe. Copper is not 100% safe anyway, depending on the mineral content of your water.

    Paul in Montreal.
