hi im new to all this but would appriecate a bit of info in relation to u values. an insulation installer gave me a quote for our house today with some u value detail, it reads like this.
slopes - insulate with 140mm high density insulation with 50 mm kingspan attached by 2by1 battens, gives you a u value of .20
attic - insulate between and over rafters with 350mm fibreglass insulation, gives you a u value of .11
partitions - insulate with 100mm aqustic insulation
ceilings - insulate with 250 mm fibreglass insulation, gives you a u value of .14
    Seal around windows

Could anyone tell me are u values achieved by this amount of insulation the standard or better or worse...????????????????????????????????????????

Google Building Regulations and look at the tables in parts L1A (new bld) and L1B (refurb). They are all close or better. 0.2 is the only one that just wings it.

Hi Rooster, See pages 18 and 19. Table 1 gives acceptable values though there is deign flexibity if you want to vary them for some reason, such as height restrictions. Happy reading!

Why go for minimum when you have the opportunity to do it better than the is required by law?

    Hello

Attic & ceilings are listed seperately. 'Ceilings' are only worth insulating if there is a cold space above them - an attic/void/flat roof.

    Do you have solid floors?

It sounds like you may also need to comply with Part E.
