Does anyone have experience using the EHV-AT Thermo flashing with plain or slate tiles?

We bought it on the basis that it's "universal" and can be used with "all types of roof coverings up to 90mm profile depth" (according to various websites where it's sold). Having unboxed it we're not so sure.

    1. When you look at diagrams in the enclosed instructions it implies that this flashing only works with high profile roof tiles (hence the "H" in the name). The diagrams (and Fakro's website) suggest this 'soaker' type flashing (ELN/ELV) instead:

    2. We couldn't quite work out how you'd fit half plain tiles over the flashing without nailing through the flashing? Do you simply make sure you only nail outside the ridge of the flashing?

There are vids for both H and L versions on youtube..

At the start of the L version it suggests ELV is for slate (or metal?) < 5mm thick and the ELN is ok for upto 15mm.

Thanks Colin, we want to use a Thermo flashing if we can as it's a better thermal detail.

And judging by the language used on merchant websites: "universal" and can be used with "all types of roof coverings up to 90mm profile" it can but I was hoping someone could confirm they've done it themselves with plain tiles.

I guess we could use tile and halfs adjacent to the roof window to get around this problem.

So apparently there is an EPV Thermo flashing available, despite not being visible online or in catalogues!

3 week lead in and we just started removing roof today

That's the standard EPV flashing. The one I'm after is the Thermo EPV flashing, which includes a little upstand of insulation around the perimeter of the frame.

The number of options they provide is huge. The problem is they have a crap website and a lack of details.

I've just order the EPV Thermo flashing but by the sounds of this I'd be better off just using the recessed EPJ version:

Now I've just spoken to Fakro and learnt that there's a EPJ Thermo version available too. Argh. Nightmare. Why can't these companies put everything on the net!?

So the Fakro person that told me there is a EPJ Thermo version today tells me he was wrong.

This is the problem with not having all your information comprehensively online.
