Does anyone know where the former Swedish Window Co. Ltd. got their composite aluminium-clad timber windows made?

One user (Herefordshire) has had the plastic hinge caps perish since the windows were installed only 9 years ago. The innards of the hinge are left exposed. Not good. I've volunteered to ask on his behalf on a few forums whether anyone else has had this problem.

The SWC doesn't answer its phone and appears to be totally out of business. The ex-MD's father still operates a company next door (making precast concrete floors). I've no idea if he'd feel under a moral obligation to help.

Yes, SWC is gone. The all-timber windows were from Hajomfonster, now part of Elit group, unresponsive as a result, and only making big sliders.

    Hi David,

It's a long shot I know, but ASSA ABLOY is a big company supplying hardware to the UK and Scandanavian markets. The hinges may be theirs. Their UK operation used to be up in Consett Co. Durham under the name GRORUD tel: 01207 581485 ( that may be out of date). Failing that, try T F Sampson in Stowmarket, they too supply all sorts of hardware, a lot of of it Scandanavian, ( 01449 613535)
