One or two (internal) walls of my bathroom appear to be full of vermiculite insulation (from drilling a hole in a panel). The walls are plywood so I was planning on removing them (on one wall the plywood is water damaged so I really want to get it out). And the room has been quite mouldy, so there's a risk the insulation contains spores and mycotoxins too.

I know asbestos is a possibility, so I'll send a sample off to make sure. Assuming it's asbestos-free - any advice on removing the insulation please? I can't see how I'll get rid of the mouldy plywood without getting rid of the insulation.

My best guess would be to drill a hole or two through the bottom of the panel and then use a shop vacuum to suck out as much of the insulation as possible.

I would remove the panels and sweep it up from the floor, wearing a mask
