No it's not, where do you get that idea. The world's moved on since the 60s Peter.
I buy stuff from the US, that's already duty and VAT sorted, and with Fed Ex it can take as little as 3 days..... I've also bought occasional stuff from China and Hong Kong with quick turnaround, small items admittedly, absolutely no problems. Like I said the worlds moved on.
Hmm. Most of the places I've ordered stuff from outside the UK have been picked up for duty and VAT (which isn't in itself an issue) but the 'admin charge' from the carrier usually a fixed price of £8-15 (which has been as much as the VAT charge on some packages) and the interruption adds a few days.
As with everything else about leaving the EU I've yet to see anyone make an even vaguely convincing case of how things are going to be better after we leave.
Posted By: savagehkThanks Doubting, when I last looked there were none I could find but clearly there are now a few. Pity you can't zoom out on the whole UK rather than guessing postcodes - also none within 50 miles of me!
