Just for a bit of fun seeing as the Mayor of London election is just around the corner I wondered who the forum thought would serve London best on "green" issues:smile:
  1.
Neither - what about Sian Berry? The Green Party has influenced the mayor on so many issues, why not dump Ken and to straight to the source of the ideas?

I voted for Ken here because he likes newts. Though He should have never gotten behind the Olympics bid. We need to scrap the Olympics for London and concentrate on important stuff. Are any candidates offering this?

Ha ha...too many vested interests there, though scrapping them is definitely the best option...put the money into decent public homes for people (housing association, trusts or however you wish to fund it) and an expanded railway network for the good of all...so therefore Ken.

Give Ken his due, no one else would have introduced the congestion charge.
I shall be voting for Sian Berry with Ken as my second vote.

To be fair to Ken he has London's welfare at heart nand has done a lot of good for the city! But do we really need the job? There already is a Lord Mayor why have a second office? surely better to bring everything under one roof - other cities seem to manage with just one person running the place? He is after all only the figure head (OK executive, but still a figure head). A Lord Mayor has done just s well for a fair few centuries so far!!

But the Lord Mayor only looks after the Square Mile; the Corporation of London has no jurisdiction outside the City. In my book the Lord Mayor is just the chairman of the local Rotary with a big chain.

But the Mayor sticks his nose in the square mile - why? and as I said why have two - there's only one London (ok there's a few offshoots but only one big one) isn't that enough? Too much polution as it is - hot air mainly! Too much concrete (to bring it back on topic more or less)

Boris wd be Sheffield all over again. The Independent Republic of South Yorkshire invested in a subsidised public transport system technically the equal of many an efficient European city, only to have it reduced to underclass-status decay by Thatcherite dogma and political sabotage. Ken's tenure has been the UK equivalent of those few 'eco-enlightened' states like California making their own legislation to put corporate-federal gangster Bush to shame.

If this rather small pole is anything to go by looks like Ken will be doing another term. Better nip down to the betting office and put a few quid on.

Don't think spell check would have picked that one up. If I was, would be guaranteed work but hard graft might be expected!!!!!
