    Does anybody have a copy of the Zurich Building Guarantee Technical Manual (paper or CD) that they either don't want any more or would be prepared to lend for a week?

    I have been onto Zurich but they don't have any copies left and, as they have pulled out of the guarantee business, they don't intend to print any more.

    From what I have seen of it, it seems to be a good guide about good general construction techniques (but obviously to builing regs rather than green / sustainable standards) and would have been a useful addition to the library. You can download it from the Zurich site but it's about 400 pages and each page is a separate PDF so that's plan C!

    You got my interest as I you like to have a look at it, so I wrote myself a very simple bash script to download it.

    either run the script below if you know what you are doing or whisper me your e-mail address.

    #!/bin/bash
    for i in $(seq 1 1 416)
    do
    wget http://www.zurich.co.uk/buildingguarantee/pages/solid_manual_pages/$i.pdf
    done
  1.
    Then you can use a program such as http://angusj.com/pdftkb/#pdftkbuilder to concatenate all the pages into a single PDF.....

    (I use the potable version (admittedly not on such large documents) and it works very well.
